SaaS - Software as a Service

Will the solution offered by the competition work in our case? Are we sure we have the same business processes and development strategy as other companies? If you know the answer to these questions, why are you going this way?

Implementation

I have encountered a situation in which there was resistance from employees to using a ready-made system many times. Secondly, I saw bad money and wasted time.

A ready-made and unadjusted solution to development processes can do more harm than good. I have already met several times with situations in which employees did not use CRM. Why? Because it was a ready-made box solution not adapted to the company's processes. In order to generate a report or enter a task, for example, they had to go through several views and make many unnecessary clicks. Why? Because the SaaS solution is by definition a universal tool that meets the needs of many organizations.

Technologies

Ready solutions are often created several years ago. In line with other labor standards, tailored to meet the needs of as many companies as possible. Hundreds of unknown functionalities reign in applications, because it is intended to be a universal solution. Technologies in which applications were written also have their light years behind them. They are not in line with the times.

SIDE

Technical support is undoubtedly the Achilles' heel of SaaS solutions. We do not have direct contact with one person. Reports are often processed by different people who happen to be on the shift.

Costs

The advantage of SaaS solutions is a decidedly low price, which does not burden the budget so much. Especially for small companies that are at the beginning of their development path and do not have extensive sales processes, orders and sufficient financial resources. Such companies also often employ fewer people and the needs are much smaller.

The costs are spread every month, which is why we do not feel it so much and it has a positive effect on financial liquidity. Application implementation is also faster and painless if we do not need dedicated functionalities. As a rule, access is available immediately and you only need to register an account and attach your company card.

If we are talking about low costs, the advantage is also the lack of investment in infrastructure (server) and administrative support. Costs are included in the monthly fee and technical care is provided by the licensor.

This is when it comes to seemingly low costs. In SaaS, you usually pay for the user, so at the very beginning, when the company does not employ so many people, the costs are not noticeable, but with the increase in employment, the costs on a monthly basis may be quite large and it would be worth considering whether we will do better in the long run investing in your own solution.

Integrations

The unquestionable obstacle of SaaS solutions is integration with other client's applications. We only have access to such integrations as allowed by the licensing company. If we want to integrate with other software that we use, unfortunately this is not possible, unless the Application Developer provides an API with which to connect. Unfortunately, everything about this connection works fine until the app is updated. After the update, it turns out that some data is not synchronizing correctly, or some of the functions do not work as they were supposed to work and the integration should be done again, which entails additional costs and system downtime.

Contact

Customer service is undoubtedly a large cost, therefore in SaaS solutions we do not have a dedicated service person. Different people handle our requests, depending on availability.

Who is the SaaS solution for? Which companies most often use ready-made solutions?
